Operator II

MATI Energy is currently looking for a team player to fill the position of Operator II. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing brewing, mixing, carbonating, and canning processes for producing MATI beverages. This individual should develop a strong understanding of production equipment use and maintenance. They will report directly to the Production Manager, and work alongside QC team to ensure that both production/work environment and product are safe and up to MATI’s high standard. We are looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience working in food/beverage manufacturing with a strong aptitude for problem solving!

This is a full-time, hourly position with a compensation rate of $13/hour.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in maintaining all facility operations, equipment, assets, and maintenance on said equipment, etc.
  • Responsible for assisting with the activities of the Production Department and monitoring procedures and standards to achieve consistently high quality products produced in an efficient manner.
  • Assist in maintaining a food safe environment through compliance with all requirements in Food Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Quality, Workplace Safety, Integrated Process Management (IPM), Occupational Safety Health Act (OSHA), Environmental Standards and policies/programs as may be required by Plant, Company, Local, State and/or Federal mandates or programs.
  • Ensures that Product Quality is an absolute priority.
  • Maintains constant communication with Production Manager on any facility or production related issues.
  • Is in charge of brewing and supervising guayusa concentrate.
  • Work with R&D to implement new flavor innovation.
  • Supervise and mix all ingredients with operators.
  • Keep control and record of the product in the brite tanks (CO2, temp, pressure, time, etc.)
  • Sensory trained for sampling of the products with the R&D team.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the brew house, brite tanks, hoses, and all other equipment.
  • Work with QC to ensure acceptable microbiological activity in equipment.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance / quality control and problem solving skills and to troubleshoot any related issues.
  • Responsible for maintenance of equipment and corrects production challenges as they come up.
  • Be part of creating SOP’s for immediate area of responsibility and train/assist other functional areas to develop SOP’s required under GMP.
  • Assist during production in other areas as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in food and/or beverage manufacturing.
  • A strong mechanical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • The ability to work as a self-starter, managing your own time effectively.
  • A solid understanding of all aspects of brewing, cellaring, CIP, and sanitizing.
  • Pragmatic optimist and team player.
  • Strong verbal communication and organization skills.

  • Must have current forklift certification (or pass certification within 3 months of hire). 
  • Meets physical requirements outlined below.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time, up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to frequently move/transport product weighing up to 50 pounds across facility. 
  • Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend ladders, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
  • Must be able to work in environment that may be subject to hazards, including proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, working on stairs and high places, exposure to high heat and exposure to chemicals.

  • Satisfactory results of background check and E-Verify.
