Shift Supervisor

MATI Energy is currently looking for a team player to fill the position of Shift Supervisor, based out of Clayton, NC. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all production activities on a designated shift, including processing, packaging, case packing, and palletizing. The Shift Supervisor will also have direct oversight of all hourly employees in an assigned area and shift. They will report directly to the Production Manager, and work alongside Quality Control (QC) team to ensure that both production/work environment and product are safe and up to MATI’s high standard.

A top candidate will have at least 3 years of experience leading a team in a food manufacturing and/or packaging environment, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a passion for helping others succeed!


  • Supervise all production activities in accordance with MATI policies, programs, and standards concerning safety, quality, productivity and cost.
  • Provide continual leadership and guidance to team members in order to increase their effectiveness and establish good working relationships.
  • Fully implement and maintain plant safety and environmental programs and procedures that are in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Actively promote adherence to plant quality system, sanitation, GMP and HACCP standards to achieve a finished product within quality control specifications.
  • Work with Production Manager to ensure staffing levels meet current production needs.
  • Assign responsibilities to team members as required to meet planned production schedules.
  • Coordinate the proper training of team members within the assigned department.
  • Apply consistent disciplinary actions in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Review shift activities and results, utilizing KPI data to make recommendations and adjustments for continuous improvement.
  • Training of current and new direct reports in the daily operation manufacturing processes; including the manufacturing procedures, materials, equipment, personnel policies and employment laws.
  • Investigate production delays and takes corrective action as necessary.
  • Keep management informed of the status of production and promptly notify appropriate member(s) of management of issues impacting food safety, food quality, or production.
  • Promote an environment conducive to teams, teamwork, and personal ownership.
  • Complete special projects, duties and assignments, as appropriate.


  • 3+ years supervisory experience leading employees in a manufacturing environment. 
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in food/beverage manufacturing and/or packaging.
  • A mechanical and problem-solving aptitude coupled with robust organizational skills.
  • The ability to work as a self-starter, managing your own time effectively.
  • Pragmatic optimist and team player.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must have current forklift certification (or pass certification within 1 month of hire). 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ERP Systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Meets physical requirements outlined below.


  • Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time, up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to frequently move/transport product weighing up to 100 pounds across facility. 
  • Must be able to regularly ascend/descend ladders, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned and to make general observations of facilities or structures.
  • Must be able to work in environment that may be subject to hazards, including proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, working on stairs and high places, exposure to high heat and exposure to chemicals.
