Business Development Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and ambitious Business Development Associate to join the MATI Energy Sales team in Durham, NC. A successful candidate will have 2+ years of experience in the food/beverage industry, and is enthusiastic, self-driven, and organized.

The Business Development Associate (BDA) will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives. This role will be responsible for developing new customer relationships, lead generation, account management, support for marketing campaigns, and follow-up on warm leads.  The BDA will manage our wholesale distribution channel from start to finish, and will be integral in generating warm leads for our outside sales team.  The BDA will report directly to the Ecommerce Channel Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Achieve assigned sales quota.
  • Develop, execute and evaluate new plans for expanding customer base and increasing sales.
  • Call on new prospective customers to obtain their business. 
  • Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other business opportunities.
  • Manage wholesale process from customer acquisition to ongoing account maintenance and support.
  • Resolve customer issues by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing teams to develop programs to increase average order volume (AOV).
  • Advocate culture and brand of “Do More. Be Better. Be You.”


  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to establishing goals and achieving them with success.
  • Inside sales experience.
  • Ability to work in fast paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Strong desire to understand customer needs and service customers.
  • Ability to manage a sales budget and provide weekly reporting on key performance indicators.
  • Strategic and innovative approach to developing awareness and grassroots marketing.
  • Understanding of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in CPG sales and Account Management a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of relevant work experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
